Democratic lawmakers Claim White House Rejecting Government Closure Discussions as Chief Executive Echoes Threat of Job Cuts

A top White House official has suggested that extensive terminations of federal staff could commence if the president determines that talks to conclude the government shutdown are "completely going nowhere|making no progress|stalled completely}."

Kevin Hassett informed CNN that he still perceived a possibility that Democratic lawmakers would concede, but noted that Trump was "getting ready to act|take action|intervene" if necessary.

Frozen Discussions

No substantial evidence of talks have surfaced between congressional leaders since the president met with them last week. The closure commenced on the first of October, after Senate Democratic senators voted against a temporary appropriations proposal that would maintain public offices open through to November 21st.

"Democrats have refused to negotiate with us," Democratic Senate leader Chuck Schumer told CBS, claiming the deadlock could be ended only by additional talks between the president and the key congressional leaders.

Partisan Accusations

The Republican House speaker claimed Democratic lawmakers of being "unserious" in talks to end the federal government stoppage, while the Democratic representative blamed GOP lawmakers of driving the closure.
