Trevoh Chalobah Expected to Replace Guehi in Three Lions National Team

Chelsea defender playing for England

Trevoh Chalobah emulated his sibling Nathaniel in playing for England, becoming the 21st pair of brothers to earn caps for the England side.

The Chelsea defender is expected to join up with the Three Lions selection to cover for injured Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi.

The 26-year-old is set to meet up with the national side for England's remaining World Cup qualifiers against Serbia and Albania, although it has still not been made public.

The Three Lions have already qualified for next summer's World Cup.

Chalobah received his maiden invitation under England manager Thomas Tuchel in May and then played his first game against the Senegalese team.

In September, Tuchel said Chalobah was unfortunate to be omitted from the squad for qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia, and also did not select him for the next October matches.

Tuchel has been an important presence in Chalobah's development, having given him his Chelsea debut in 2021.

Chalobah has featured in nearly all games for Chelsea in the current campaign, with the team in third place in the English top flight, in the EFL Cup last eight and in the group stage of the European competition.

Guehi suffered a injury to his foot in Crystal Palace's Conference League win over AZ Alkmaar in their last match.

There are set to be further call-ups to the team. Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has confirmed that both attacker Anthony Gordon (hip injury) and goalkeeper Nick Pope (a concussion) will be unavailable from the England setup.
